Slovenia Chooses RCBC Plaza as Home for First Embassy in Southeast Asia

Makati City, Philippines— The Republic of Slovenia has officially opened its first embassy in the Philippines, choosing the prestigious RCBC Plaza in the heart of Makati’s central business district as its location. This marks a significant milestone in Slovenia’s growing diplomatic engagement in Southeast Asia.

The embassy has been fully operational since February 5, 2025, with its official opening ceremony held on March 11, during the official visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Tanja Fajon.

As the sole Slovenian Embassy in Southeast Asia, it signifies the nation’s commitment to strengthening cooperation across various sectors, including business, culture, science, and sports. Furthermore, the embassy will address the increasing interest of Filipino workers seeking employment opportunities in Slovenia and cater to the growing need for international labor in the European nation.

Strategic Decision to Choose RCBC Plaza

Slovenia’s decision to establish its diplomatic presence in RCBC plaza was driven by its strategic location, strong infrastructure, and its established reputation as home for several international organizations and other embassies, making it an ideal hub for consular operations.

The Embassy of Slovenia has secured a 10-year-lease contract with RCBC Realty, signifying its long-term commitment to its presence in the Philippines. The newly operational embassy will offer a full suite of consular services, including visa processing for Filipino citizens, assistance to Slovenian nationals, and the issuance of temporary work permits for overseas Filipino workers. The embassy also aims to serve as a hub for cultural exchange and bilateral collaboration across various sectors.

Currently, RCBC Plaza is home to eight embassies and four foreign missions and delegations, alongside 47 corporate tenants, making it one of most sought-after addresses in Metro Manila for both corporate and international institutions.

RCBC Realty Corporation, the developer behind RCBC Plaza, emphasized its commitment to providing a secure, sustainable, and responsive environment for its tenants through its world-class facilities and sustainable operations.

“We are honored to be chosen as the home for the Republic of Slovenia’s first embassy in Southeast Asia,” said Marjorie Abot, General Manager of RCBC Realty Corporation. “At RCBC Plaza, we understand the unique needs of the diplomatic community. Our stringent security and safety procedures provide a secure environment for all of our tenants. Moreover, with our LEED Gold certification, 100% renewable energy sourcing, and continuous facility enhancements, we remain committed to creating a future-ready workplace for global partners.”

RCBC plaza will continue to enhance its facilities including power plant improvements,  BMS and CCTV replacements, retail and lobby area enhancements, and car park facility system upgrades. The completion of a newly improved retail area and the full utilization of 100% renewable energy source (ACEN), and enhancement of corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety protocols, including Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Preparedness are also to be expected this year.

The establishment of the Slovenian Embassy at RCBC plaza marks an exciting new chapter in the relationship between Slovenia and the Philippines, promising increased bilateral relations and shared progress between two like-minded nations.
