Tagaytay Weekend Market: Makamundo, A Homegrown Movement Returns, Sparking a New Wave of Conscious Community Events

Share

In partnership with Tagaytay Weekend Market, homegrown sustainability brand Refill ‘N Beyond made a vibrant comeback with Makamundo, a pop-up community event that championed local makers, artists, and slow living. Held in the scenic and cozy Café Carolina, the event welcomed families, eco-lovers, creatives, and curious passersby into a day of conscious shopping, community workshops, and heartfelt connection.

From handcrafted room sprays by Gems Corner, to Salvia Artesanía’s artisan accessories, Marahuyo’s fresh flower bar, and local farm goods from Figtree Farms, each booth carried stories of mindful production and deep-rooted Filipino creativity. Guests sipped on blue ternate tea and sampled veggie fries while browsing Reiso’s art prints, Ehemplo Pinas’ hemp-based lifestyle goods, Kekel Arts’ hand-painted pieces, and other curated selections.

The day also featured well-received workshops on soap-making and urban gardening, giving attendees both practical knowledge and a stronger connection to nature.

And as this weekend market movement evolves, it’s also bringing back the chill: live DJ sets are becoming a staple in every pop-up, creating the easygoing mood that guests have come to love.

Barber Noel, affectionately known as Sor Toto, offered his signature cuts — proving that self-care is very much a part of sustainable living. Piercing services were also available, rounding out the lineup of passion-driven booths that celebrated individuality and expression.

“We wanted to bring back that spark — slow days, meaningful exchanges, and shopping that feels right,” said Millie Manahan, founder of Refill ‘N Beyond. “Makamundo is only the beginning. We’re excited to bring this energy to places like Baler, La Union, Pampanga, and more.”

Because if there’s one thing Makamundo reminded us, it’s this — when local passions, mindful choices, and good energy come together, we remember how it feels to truly belong. And that feeling? It’s coming to a town near you. Follow them on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/refillnbeyond) for more updates.
