Price of a Dream

“You’re free to dream,” is what’s often heard

For wishful thinking seems to be done daily

And nobody had to pay a dime to keep it in their minds

Or really is it so?

The price of a dream never comes cheap

It has, and always has been, comes with a price tag

One that you thought to be free

Daily charges you

While you think payment wasn’t made

It incites with a sweet offer

Was it a house? Car? Love? Or job?

Once you choose, the remittance will start

First, your mind pays with the gratification it receives

“The thought about it” gives you shivers

Do you think that that thought came free?

Think again, what would happen when you try to achieve it?

The price is not limited to the peso or dollar

Cost comes from opportunities, support, and confidence

You always pay with these three to get closer

And it’s never cheap, even to get one

You’ve all paid something without being wary

Payment of money, sacrifice, loneliness, and experience

Plus, getting a loan for your sanity, relationships, and good deeds

Have always been necessary to keep the payment going

And if you do not buy these

The debt of regret is going to collect

Having your dream becoming unobtainable

Also changes it to a price that you cannot pay

And even then, your mind will keep wondering

If there would be a buyer’s remorse

“Should you have bought this dream rather than the other?”

Will always linger in the mind

Yet, at the end of the day

It’s better to buy and pay for a dream early

As the payment of your sacrifices

Will never be as high as the cost of regret.
