Sun Life Philippines, Liter of Light, and National Museum of the Philippines achieve GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for largest display of solar powered lamps

MANILA, PH – July 2025– In a historic celebration of sustainability, innovation, and community impact,  Sun Life Philippines, in partnership with Liter of Light and the National Museum of the Philippines, has  officially achieved the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest display of solar powered lamps.

The record-breaking installation, unveiled at the National Museum of the Philippines, is part of Circle of  Light – Sun Life’s flagship program for its 130th anniversary in the Philippines. The display features nearly 3,000 hand-built solar lamps arranged in a powerful visual formation that symbolizes unity, hope, and the  light that communities can bring to one another.

“This achievement is a shining example of what we can accomplish when purpose-driven organizations  and passionate individuals come together,” said Benedict Sison, CEO and Country Head of Sun Life  Philippines. “As we celebrate our 130th anniversary, we are proud to mark this milestone not just with a  record, but with a message that light, in all its forms, has the power to transform lives.”

The solar lamps were assembled by Sun Life employees, advisors, volunteers, and community members  through workshops led by Liter of Light, a globally recognized non-profit organization that empowers  communities through solar lighting solutions. The initiative also featured a collaboration with Odangputik  Art Space, a community of potters, who shaped each lamp by hand.

The National Museum of the Philippines serves as the venue for the display, reinforcing the importance of  preserving culture while embracing innovation. The artwork will remain on public view from July 2 to 9,  2025.

Following the display, Sun Life will donate the solar lamps to underserved communities living in darkness,  providing students with clean energy and enabling them to study at night.

The Circle of Light initiative is part of Sun Life’s broader commitment to sustainability, financial inclusion,  and nation-building, aligning with its mission to help Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security and live  healthier lives.
