Jehovah’s Witnesses are nearing the conclusion of their 2025 regional convention series across the Philippines, with one of the final three-day gatherings set to take place from August 22 to 24 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The “Pure Worship!” convention in Pasay beginning this Friday is expected to draw 3,500 attendees. This convention, which will be in the English language, will be one of the more than 6,000 global conventions that will take place in 240 lands where Jehovah’s Witnesses worship.
The convention series started on May 23 and will run through September 7, 2025 in several locations. In the Philippines, there are a total of 172 conventions in about 90 cities and municipalities.
The convention is expected to draw thousands of attendees who are conscious about filling their spiritual needs. The convention will highlight the pattern set by Jesus on how to worship God which could bring personal benefits to the attendees.
Among the highlights of the convention include a public talk with theme “Do you worship what you know?” which will delve into understanding why beliefs matter and how to search for truth. It will also feature a series of videos, discourses and interviews that include topics such as “What does Jesus see in you?,” “Imitate Jesus’ responses to the Tempter,” and “Remain in Jehovah’s great spiritual temple.”
The convention will also present a series of videos as well as the feature drama “The Good News According to Jesus: Episodes 2 and 3.” The 18-episode video series is a comprehensive look at the life and ministry of Jesus Christ based solely on the Gospel accounts. Episode 1 was shown in the convention series held last year.
“We look forward to once again welcoming the public and presenting this exciting program to all attendees. This year’s convention features the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. We will explore how Jesus overcame the Devil’s temptations, understand the first miracle he performed, and learn valuable lessons from his examples of love, compassion, and generosity,” said James Morales who is spokesperson of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mr. Normito Zapata Jr., spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Metro Manila, emphasized that extensive coordination is underway with relevant government agencies and the SMX Convention Center’s management team. In addition to these arrangements, Zapata said hundreds of volunteers are actively involved in preparing the venue to guarantee a safe, welcoming, and spiritually enriching environment for all attendees, including those who learned about the convention during the special invitation campaign.
The convention series are being held in several Philippine languages namely Bicol, Cebuano, Chavacano, English, Filipino Sign Language, Hiligaynon, Ibanag, Iloko, Inakeanon, Itawit, Kankanaey, Pangasinan, Tagalog and Waray-waray.
“We want to share the good news to as many people possible. Having the Bible message in one’s language can have a special effect on the person hearing it,” said Gary Jay Montemayor who also spoke during a recent press conference of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Earlier, one of the largest gatherings of Jehovah’s Witnesses for Filipino Sign Language was held in Dagupan, Pangasinan. Wilson Utayde noted that approximately 3,000 attendees who use the Filipino Sign Language (FSL) traveled from regions spanning Northern Luzon to MIMAROPA to participate in the three-day convention. He emphasized that the influx of visitors not only highlighted the event’s good impact on the community but also provided a boost to local tourism, benefiting nearby hotels and accommodations, restaurants, and transport services.
