Malayan Insurance hosts Charity Golf Cup to celebrate 95th Anniversary

Malayan Insurance celebrated its 95th anniversary with the theme of “Love, Malayan” by hosting the Malayan Charity Cup. The fundraising golf tournament, held at the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club, was a success, bringing together partners and supporters to raise over Php1.3 million for beneficiary families of Sulong Batangas.

By partnering with AY Foundation, the social development arm of the Yuchengco Group of Companies, the proceeds from the golf fundraiser will go to the Sulong Batangas Housing Project. This is a government-led initiative aimed at providing secure housing for hundreds of families who lost their homes due to Typhoon Kristine.

“For 95 years, Malayan has been part of the everyday lives of Filipinos, and we are thankful for that privilege. At this year’s anniversary, we want to celebrate by giving back to the community that supported us for nearly a century. This housing project will help provide homes for the affected Filipino families,” said Paolo Y. Abaya, Malayan Insurance President and Chief Executive Officer.

The official turnover of the funds will take place in the latter part of 2025. The substantial amount raised by Malayan Insurance is expected to make a significant contribution to the housing initiative.

The Malayan Charity Cup was strongly supported by 35 companies and individuals who sponsored, donated, and gave in-kind contributions. Most of these companies and individuals have been longtime partners of Malayan and they share Malayan’s vision of giving back to the community. In particular, Malayan wishes to thank Gallagher Re, Assist America, Tokio Marine Asia, the Marriott Group, AON, Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), Swiss Re, ARB Reinsurance, SAS Institute, Pointwest, Mapua University, and AC Energy.

As one of the country’s leading non-life insurance firms, Malayan Insurance integrates corporate social responsibility (CSR) into its core operations through its GameChangers program. This initiative champions projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on poverty alleviation, quality education, and reduced inequalities.
