Delivering precise humidity regulation, antibacterial UVnano™ treatment, and low-noise operation, LG PuriCare™ units help maintain strict conservation standards in museum spaces
LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers Champion Art and Heritage Conservation at the National Museum of Fine Arts
LG Philippines reaffirms its enduring partnership with the National Museum of Fine Arts, demonstrating renewed commitment through the donation of LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifier units. These advanced units will help maintain optimal climate conditions within museum galleries—ensuring the long-term protection of the nation’s priceless cultural treasures.

Museums are more than just spaces for display—they are carefully controlled environments that safeguard the country’s cultural and historical legacy. Stable temperature and humidity levels are essential, as fluctuations can severely damage sensitive artworks and artifacts. Excess moisture poses one of the greatest threats, often resulting in mold growth, warping, or paint deterioration. This is where dehumidifiers play a vital role—maintaining environmental stability, protecting collections, and preserving them for future generations.

Through this collaboration, LG helps bolster the museum’s internal climate regulation—ensuring preservation conditions meet strict conservation standards. The deployment of PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers marks a critical intervention that enhances the museum’s capacity to protect its collections from the damaging effects of excess humidity, ensuring long-term protection across its most sensitive spaces.
Designed with both performance and safety in mind, the dehumidifiers feature UVnano™ technology that helps maintain a hygienic water tank by reducing bacterial growth. The units also operate at an ultra-quiet 33dB, allowing them to work efficiently in the background without disrupting the museum experience. Additional features like ergonomic handles, smooth-glide wheels, and continuous drainage ensure seamless integration into the museum’s conservation operations. Smart connectivity via the LG ThinQ™ app allows real-time monitoring and remote control, making daily management even more efficient.

At the heart of the National Museum of Fine Arts lies an extraordinary collection that tells the story of the Filipino people—an artistic legacy shaped by triumph, struggle, and resilience. Few works capture this national spirit more powerfully than Juan Luna’s Spoliarium, a monumental painting that has become a symbol of Filipino identity. To help safeguard this and other priceless works, LG equipped the museum with PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers, each capable of removing up to 30 liters of excess humidity daily. The technology supports the preservation of masterpieces by National Artists such as Fernando Amorsolo (Bataan) and Benedicto Cabrera (Sabel), enabling the museum to maintain strict conservation standards and protect these cultural treasures from the silent threats of time, moisture, and decay.
“Spoliarium by Juan Luna is the most legendary work of art in the Philippines or work of art by a Filipino artist. It is one of our foremost national cultural treasures.” said Director General Jeremy Barns. “When it was brand new and won its gold medal in Madrid in 1884, it inspired all Filipinos of that time and continues to inspire all the generations since then up to now, and so we have to keep that, para ma-inspire din yung generations in the future—Imagine na-inspire si Jose Rizal mismo dito sa Spoliarium.” He also added that Luna’s journey to Europe and his victory among the world’s best artists make the Spoliarium even more meaningful, as it reminds us of our roots, our ancestors’ struggles, and how far we’ve come as a nation.
Preserving these treasures, however, is not without challenges. One of the most persistent and damaging is the battle against fluctuating humidity levels—a major threat to delicate materials like canvas, wood, and paint. “One of the biggest challenges is how to cope with our tropical environment. Napaka humid. Yung fluctuations in our temperatures, these are not good for keeping fragile works for a long time, including paintings.” Barns explained. “So one of the things we need to do is try to control as much as possible ang environmental conditions, temperature and humidity. Napaka importante ang dehumidifying systems so these LG PuriCare Dehumidifiers are the things we really need to help us combat the humidity, take moisture out of the air para talagang tumagal yung buhay ng paintings natin dito sa Museo.” With cutting-edge humidity control, the LG PuriCare units now deployed throughout the museum’s galleries help maintain stable conditions essential to conservation. LG’s support has strengthened the museum’s environmental controls, making a real difference in its daily preservation efforts. From Spoliarium to the works of the country’s National Artists, the museum is now better equipped to ensure these irreplaceable pieces endure for generations.
More than a donation, the partnership between LG and the National Museum is a shared commitment to protecting the nation’s heritage. As the public continues to rediscover the joys of visiting cultural institutions, the National Museum remains steadfast in its mission—to preserve, educate, and inspire. This same technology that protects priceless art also proves to be highly useful in everyday environments—offering ideal humidity control for homes, households, offices, and many other spaces where clean air and moisture balance are essential. “Our partnership with LG is a really rich and developing partnership. First, we started with their donations of TVs and screens, which help us educate, promote, tell stories. It’s moved on from that to preservation with the donation of these dehumidifiers, and preservation means also protecting them, para makita ng susunod na generations to come.” Barns concluded. “We’re really delighted that all of the concerns of the museum, protection, preservation, promotion, is what is being featured in our expanding partnership with LG.”
