ArenaPlus and Gilas Pilipinas team up for the upcoming FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers

ArenaPlus renews its sponsorship with Gilas Pilipinas, ahead of the 2027 FIBA World Cup as they face Guam in the first round of the Asian Qualifiers.

Gilas Pilipinas and ArenaPlus renewed its sponsorship and send-off at a private event in Pasig, last November 24. The men’s national basketball team begins their road to the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup backed by ArenaPlus, the Philippine’s best online sportsbook and a major sponsor for the national team, marking another milestone for the company in staying true to its commitment to support the sports development scene in the Philippines.

The event was attended by Mr. Rafael Jasper Vicencio, the official representative of Total Gamezone Xtreme Inc., sharing words of support to the national team as they rise above the odds on the global stage, joining him in the send-off was Ms. Erika Dy, Executive Director of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, who also thanked ArenaPlus for their support in the Gilas Pilipinas program, also in attendance was Mr. Willie Marcial, PBA Commissioner, Mr. Alfrancis Chua, Gilas Pilipinas Program Director who invited everyone to support the national team: “On December 1st, at Ateneo, all Filipinos, please support Gilas, our nation’s basketball team.”

Coach Tim Cone, Gilas Pilipinas Head Coach who also shared a message stating that: “the players came to work, which shows how important this means to us, these players have been through failures and they’ve learned from those failures, they also understand that we’re not taking anything for granted, so we expect a stronger team coming up.”

The national team is scheduled to fly out on November 25, to go against Guam for the first round of the Asian Qualifiers, which will take place from November 2025 to March 2027 leading up to the main event in Qatar for the FIBA World Cup. The team consists of an 18 man pool with the final 12 playing team spearheaded by Coach Tim Cone. The Philippines is included in Group A together with Australia, New Zealand, and Guam, as they aim for their 8th FIBA World Cup appearance in Qatar.

The first match against Guam will be at the Calvo Fieldhouse, Guam on November 28. The team will then be preparing to host and go against Guam at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City on December 1.
