via Graphic Plus — The first leg of the Asian Tour will commence in the Philippines, in a press conference held at the Manila Golf & Country Club on January 12, 2026, the Philippine President’s Trophy was officially announced to be held at the Wack Wack Golf & Country Club, which is also known as one of the most historical golf courses and home of numerous Philippine Opens in the past.
The press conference was attended by Mr. John Patrick “Pato” Gregorio, Chairman of the Philippines Sports Commission, Mr. Rafael Jasper Vicencio, President AB Leisure Exponent Inc., Mr. Alfredo Panlilio, NGAP Chairman, Mr. Martin Lorenzo, NGAP President, Ms. Leana Farrales-Carmona, NGAP Vice President, Mr. Bones Floro, NGAP Secretary General and Mr. Benjamin Abalos, President of Wack Wack Golf & Country Club, along with other board of directors and media partners.
Sanctioned by the Asian Tour and in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the event will be managed by the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP), with the tournament proudly sponsored by BingoPlus reinforcing a strong support for the local government and private sector to come together for the benefit of the sport of golf and enhancing the sports tourism in the country.
The Philippine President’s Trophy tournament will begin on February 5-8, with a Pro-Am to be held on February 4. It will be sanctioned by the Asian Tour as part of its 2026 Season, where 144 players consisting of members of the Asian Tour, Filipino professional and amateur players as part of the grassroots program for athletes to showcase their world class talent and compete on the international stage.
In a message from Mr. Cho Minn Thant, the commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour, he stated that… ”It is very encouraging to see both the public and private sector getting behind this event with the Philippine Sports Commission and BingoPlus coming on board to support and highlight their commitment to golf in the Philippines, I am confident that with everyone’s collective effort the event will make a tremendous impact and be a great success.”
