via Graphic Plus — Self-taught artist Sir Jen Consumido will conduct a six-session air-dry clay sculpture workshop for beginners starting February 17, 2026 at the Sunshine Place. It will be conducted every Tuesday from 2:00 – 5:00 PM.
The workshop is an introduction to air-dry clay sculpture, designed to familiarize participants with the medium through guided, hands-on projects. The course begins with an overview of air-dry polymer clay, including its properties, uses, and key differences from fire-dry clay.
Across multiple sessions, students will learn fundamental sculpting techniques such as shaping, texturing, detailing, and assembling forms while creating a series of small, themed projects. Lessons are structured around familiar and culturally relevant food subjects—ranging from pastries to Filipino street food and everyday meals such as donuts, cookies, kwek kwek and tukneneng, pan de sal, kesong puti, hamburger and fries, among others to make learning engaging and approachable for beginners.
As the workshop progresses, participants will gradually build confidence in handling the material, applying basic techniques, and refining details. By the end of the course, students will have completed several air-dry clay sculptures and gained a solid foundation in basic clay modeling, preparing them for more advanced sculpting projects or independent creative exploration.
