via Graphic Plus |EMBASSY EXPRESS — Last week, Austrian Ambassador Johann Brieger paid a courtesy call on Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto discuss strengthening cooperation between the City of Pasig and Austria.
The meeting focused on potential partnerships in education, particularly in Media and Information Literacy (MIL), sustainability initiatives, and the circular economy, where innovation, education, and community engagement intersect. Both sides explored opportunities for collaboration that can foster resilient, informed, and future-ready communities.


Parents become “Media Detectives” at Pinagbuhatan Elementary School during a hands-on media literacy workshop facilitated by the Austrian Embassy Manila and OOTB
Following the meeting with the City of Pasig, the Austrian Embassy Manila, in partnership with Out of the Box Media Literacy Initiative (OOTB), facilitated a Media Information Literacy Workshop at Pinagbuhatan Elementary School, Pasig City.
Parents and members of the Parent-Teacher Association participated in a hands-on ”Media Detectives” session, learning practicial skills to critically analyze and interrogate media influence.
MEDIA DETECTIVES: Media Literacy Training on Interrogating Influence is a multi-level project by OOTB designed to promote media literacy as a vital tool against disinformation, hate speech, and other challenges in today’s media landscape. Participants explored engaging strategies to identify misinformation and strengthen critical thinking skills in the digital age.
