via GRAPHIC PLUS | ALABANG, MUNTINLUPA (February 19, 2026) — The steady hum of machinery and the gleam of stainless steel marked more than the completion of a building; they signaled a defining moment for Philippine food service. After nearly a year of construction, Kitchen City officially unveiled its largest and most advanced commissary to date, strengthening its role in feeding institutions, businesses, and communities nationwide.
The new facility rises as a testament to long-term vision. For Kitchen City President Ricardo Abelardo Jr., the expansion represents more than operational growth. It reflects a commitment to raising standards across the country’s food supply chain—ensuring that meals are prepared with efficiency, delivered with care, and produced with uncompromising attention to safety and quality.

He emphasized that the commissary is designed not only to meet today’s demand but to anticipate tomorrow’s opportunities, including expansion into new segments such as fast-food services.
Scale defines the structure. Built to produce up to 500,000 meals daily, the commissary integrates an advanced cold chain system that protects freshness from kitchen to client. Every stage—from sourcing and preparation to packaging and transport—has been engineered for precision. Sustainability also plays a central role. Solar panels help reduce the facility’s environmental footprint, while a modern wastewater management system supports responsible resource use. These features underscore a broader shift toward resilient, future-ready food production.
The commissary’s design also ensures operational continuity during natural disruptions. Equipped with high-capacity generators and modern automation systems, the facility can maintain service even during emergencies—an essential capability in a country frequently affected by extreme weather events. In times when reliable food access becomes critical, the infrastructure is built to respond.
Beyond institutional catering, the new hub enhances Kitchen City’s growing bakery operations. With dedicated spaces for high-volume baking, the facility opens doors to expanded product lines and wider market reach. Its strategic location in Alabang allows seamless distribution to Metro Manila, South Luzon, and North Luzon, strengthening logistical efficiency and responsiveness.
As guests toured the expansive interiors during the inauguration, the message was clear: this is not simply a larger kitchen. It is a blueprint for how innovation, sustainability, and scale can converge to serve a nation in motion—one meal at a time. —Albert Legaspi
