Yule Season

My holiday wishes
As I gaze
Into the wide
Open ocean
In the island
Of my birth

Save that gift
And reserve it
For the hungry
and the homeless
In the South.

Save the sound
Of Christmas carols
And toll the bells
For fishers
Who lost their boats
And sources of livelihood
From the angry seas.

Save the merrymaking
And transform it into prayer
For compatriots who lost
Lives and abode
From swollen rivers
And angry seas

Save that gift
And reserve for the cold
And the hungry
In the house of hope.

Let’s find joy
In helping out.

Let’s find solace
In sharing.

This is not the best of times
And the worst may not be over.

Let’s help each other
Survive the difficult times.

Think of
A meaningful Christmas
As we welcome
The good prospects
Of the New Year.
