The Pwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat (PPP) party-list is No. 2 in the final numerical designation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for party-list groups participating in the May 2025 mid-term elections.
The official raffle for the numerical order of the accredited parties by the Comelec was digitally done, the first and the most efficient process by the poll body.
At least 156 accridited party-list groups are set to participate in next year’s mid-term elections, with the PPP being a newbie, but fortunately landed No. 2 in the final numerical list.
“The PPP, though still a rookie in the field of politics, it has a genuine concern and care for our fisherfolk across the country. Landing in No. 2 slot in the final list of at least 156 aspirants is a good sign of things to come,” a political observer said.
Earlier, Johnny Toleran, one of the PPP nominees, assured fishermen and fishermen’s groups nationwide that once in Congress, beneficial laws would immediately be crafted to help uplift their lives and that of their respective families.
“The struggles of our brave fishermen motivated us to become their representatives in Congress. We won’t let them down and we will give them the necessary care and attention to their needs,” said Toleran.
Once elected, the PPP said they would ensure the quick creation of laws that would include free insurance and free education for fishermen’s children, and other benefits to ease their burdens.
They would focus on fishermen, but would also include seafarers and others in the maritime sector in the country, making sure the concerns of fisherfolk and related groups nationwide would be addressed.
