STA. CRUZ, Laguna – The Provincial Sports and Games Development Office (PSGDO), with the support of the Laguna Chess Association (LCA), conducted the 6th Governor Ramil L. Hernandez Cup Laguna Inter-Town Chess Team Championships on 22-23 March 2025 at the Laguna Sports Complex Athletes’ Village in Barangay Bubukal.
PSGDO Head Mr. Mario Tobias and LCA President Mr. Deogracias C. Bonggon, Jr. welcomed the participants of the two-day event, where a total of 169 teams (Open-84 teams, Juniors-53 teams and Kiddies-32 teams) joined this year’s tournament, making it the most attended Governor’s Cup Chess tournament.
Declared champions were the following: Calamba Team A – Open Category ; Santa Rosa City A – Juniors Category; and Calamba City Kids – Kiddies Category.
The provincial government, through PSGDO, provided the trophies, medals, cash prizes and honoraria of technical officiating officials for the said tournament.PSGDO’s next local tournament will be the 9th Governor Ramil L. Hernandez Cup Laguna Taekwondo Championships scheduled on 13 April 2025.
