Partners with Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP) and launches Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Policy
Pasig City, Philippines – 30 June 2025 — Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) has joined the Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP) as a member, strengthening its commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in the workplace. PFIP is a collaborative volunteer-led community of professionals and organizations across industries, working together to promote LGBTQIA+ inclusion and equality in the Philippine workplace.
The ceremonial signing of the Partnership of Support with PFIP coincided with the formal launch of MGEN’s DEIB Policy. This policy provides a clear roadmap for fostering a culture where authenticity, inclusion, and mutual respect are deeply embedded — supported by training sessions, regular audits, and a clear grievance and feedback mechanism to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
“At MGEN, this policy is not just on paper. It reflects the workplace we are building — where everyone feels seen, respected, and safe. Today is just the beginning of the many actions we’ll take together to build a more inclusive, equitable, and empowered workplace for all.” said MGEN President and CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio.
As part of its employment benefits, MGEN is the first within the One Meralco Group that extends health and medical coverage to same-sex and common-law partners reflecting its inclusive approach to employee well-being. With operations across 12 provinces, MGEN’s workforce is a tapestry of perspectives, cultures, and lived experiences. In the corporate office, women constitute 55% of its workforce. This diversity strengthens the organization and continues to shape a more inclusive and empowered workplace.
“These initiatives are not just policies – that’s a statement of respect. It’s about affirming the dignity of every individual and every kind of family. This is what diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness looks like when it’s real – and this is just the beginning,” MGEN Human Resources Head Dang Lopez shared.
To cap off Pride Month, MGEN also hosted a special dialogue among its employees on “Everyone Belongs: A Conversation on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belongingness” featuring PFIP Corporate Secretary and Trustee Ivan Garong and PFIP Training Consultant Jessley Bañas. With the goal of deepening understanding further across the organization, the session covered topics on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) 101 and the Business of Inclusion, equipping employees with knowledge and tools to build a more inclusive workplace.

These initiatives capped a meaningful Pride Month celebration at MGEN, as the company takes concrete steps to ensure that everyone — regardless of gender identity, expression, or orientation — can thrive at their workplace.
