Atty. Marius P. Corpus, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), attended his first Flag Raising Ceremony as Chairperson of the GCG on August 7, 2023.
GCG Chair Corpus was joined by newly appointed GCG Commissioner Atty. Brian Keith F. Hosaka.
Chairperson Corpus and Commissioner Hosaka were appointed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on August 3, 2023.
Chair Corpus, in his message to the officials and employees of the GCG, called for cooperation from GCG employees as they embark of their new roles in GCG.
Chair Corpus expounded on the principle that “Public Office is a Public Trust”, enshrined in the Philippines Constitution, which must always be guiding principle of public officials and employees.
Chair Corpus also said that the role of the GCG is to shepherd and guide, not to control, Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCCs) so that they may perform their mandates and achieve the purpose they were created for.
Commissioner Hosaka, for his part, said that the help and collaboration of GCG employees will be of great importance as they perform their functions.
The Governance Commission remains steadfast in its mandate as the central advisory, oversight, and monitoring body for GOCCs, to institutionalize transparency, accountability, financial viability, and responsiveness in corporate governance by monitoring and evaluating the performance of GOCCs.
