MANILA — The Camera Club of the Philippines, the oldest photographic society in the country, will put up a photo exhibit at the House of Lucie in Athens, Greece in celebration of its 95th founding anniversary.
Club president Tim Abejo said the exhibit will be inaugurated on September 12 by no less than Ambassador of the Philippines to Greece Giovanni E. Palec.
The photo exhibit will be on display at the House of Lucie until Sept. 30.
Abejo and other photography enthusiasts belonging to the club, along with House of Lucie Foundation chairman Hossein Farmani, will join Palec in opening the photo exhibit and in launching the club’s 95th anniversary book project titled “Heart to Heart—Glimpsing Philippine Goodness.”
The book, which compiles distinctive photography work by club members, will be officially launched here on Nov. 8 at the Ayala Museum.
Abejo said it would be a prestigious honor for the Camera Club of the Philippines to exhibit the best of its collected photographs at the House of Lucie, which features a modern exhibition space presenting the work of local and international photographers.
The House of Lucie is also home to the Lucie Foundation, which holds the annual Lucie Awards for master photographers to honor their contributions to the field of photography.
The Camera Club of the Philippines was founded in 1928, and, except for a brief hiatus during World War II, has preserved an unbroken organized existence until today, Abejo said. – Taktikom
