Congressman Walfredo “Arman” R. Dimaguila, Jr. of the Lone District of Biñan has been appointed as Assistant Majority Leader during the first regular session of the 20th Congress on July 30.
Dimaguila was nominated and appointed by Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos after the latter’s appointment as majority leader.
Marcos, the President’s eldest son, was unanimously elected as majority leader by 290 House members. He was previously the senior deputy majority leader of the Lower House.
As Assistant Majority Leader, Dimaguila will play a supporting leadership role within the Majority bloc.
He will assist the Majority Leader in managing legislative business and in upholding order in the House.
“Lubos ang aking pasasalamat sa tiwalang ipinagkaloob ng ating mga kasamahan sa Kongreso. Asahan ninyo na mananatili tayong tapat sa ating layunin na maglingkod nang buong puso at integridad para sa kapakanan ng bawat Biñanense at ng sambayanang Pilipino [I thank my fellow representatives for their trust in me. Rest assured that I will remain true to our commitment to wholeheartedly serve with integrity every Biñanense, as well as the entire Filipino people],” the former Biñan City mayor said.
Dimaguila is a lawyer-turned-politician whose trajectory spans from grassroots youth leadership to municipal councilor, vice mayor, city mayor, and now congressional representative.
His platform is centered around community-focused governance, education, social services, disaster resilience, and regional environmental planning—especially addressing challenges associated with Laguna Lake.
