Graphic Reader’s Covers Exhibit: An NJLA 2024 Pre-Event highlight

2006 National Artist for the Visual Arts Benedicto ‘BenCab’ Reyes Cabrera to lead in ribbon-cutting ceremony

A colorful 12-stand exhibit of Philippines Graphic Reader covers is the pre-event highlight of the 2024 Nick Joaquin Literary Awards (NJLA) this Tuesday, May 7 at the Samsung Hall, 6th floor SM Aura Premier, 26th Street, cor. McKinley Parkway, Taguig City.

2006 National Artist for the Visual Arts Benedicto ‘Bencab’ Cabrera will lead in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held from 5 to 5:30 pm at the lobby leading to the Samsung Hall.

BenCab will be joined by Philippines Graphic Reader Creative Design consultant Ces Cabangon who has guided the cover illustrations of the Reader executed by Graphic Reader illustrators Randy Constantino and Ardie Aquino.

Graphic Reader cover illustrations from February 2023 to January 2024 are featured in the exhibit. These include illustrations for the following cover stories: “The Rainbow” by Ramon Sunico (February 2023), “Near Paradise” by Criselda Yabes (March 2023), “Uling” by Jonell Segador Gregorio (April 2023), “The Mysteries beside the Brook under the Tree” by Kriztin Cruz (May 2023), “Horror Vacui” by Yvette Tan (June 2023), “Quaran10” by Karl R. De Mesa (July 20230), “The Scent of Coconuts” by Ma. Ceres P. Doyo (August 2023), “The Visible Part of the Brain” by Ninotchka Rosca (September 2023), “Wakwak” by Achinette Villamor (October 2023), “Three Baggies, One for Each of Us” by Yvette Tan (November 2023), “Don’t Follow Me, I Don’t Even Know Where I am Going” by Ian Rosales Casocot (December 2023), and “Senior Momentous” by Ma. Ceres P. Doyo (January 2024)
