Right to Care Card launched in Biñan City

In line with the celebration of Pride Month, the Right to Care Card was launched in Biñan on June 8—the first of its kind in the province of Laguna.

Vice Mayor Jonalina Reyes authored City Ordinance No. 22-(2026), “An Ordinance Requiring the Recognition of Health Care Proxies by All Health Facilities within the City of Biñan, Providing for the ‘Right To Care’ Card, and for Other Purposes.” Mayor Angelo Alonte approved the ordinance in support of Biñan residents who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Right to Care Card grants authority to the partner or designated representative of a member of the LGBTQIA+ community to represent them and make decisions on important health-related matters.

It may be used in licensed facilities and by health care providers under the jurisdiction of the local government of Biñan.

Its aim is to promote equal rights and facilitate their access to essential health services in the city.
