Manila gets the first show, UnionBank cardholders get first dibs

What happens when a trailblazing, multi-awarded, proudly Filipino bank decides to treat its cardholders to arguably the most groundbreaking musical of the decade?

UnionBank cardholders are about to find out for themselves.

Hamilton, the award-winning and record-breaking Broadway musical, is set to have its Asian premiere in the Philippines with UnionBank as the official sponsor and ticket pre-sale partner.

UnionBank of the Philippines, in partnership with GMG Productions for Hamilton’s Asian premiere, will hold an exclusive booking period to give its credit cardholders early access to tickets.

The hip-hop musical about America’s founding father, Alexander Hamilton, had humble beginnings as an off-Broadway show in 2015 before it garnered sell-out shows and critical acclaim and moved to Broadway where it won 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The title role was played by its creator and writer, Lin-Manuel Miranda (beloved for his songs in Moana and Encanto).

Since then, Hamilton has been performed throughout North America, in London’s West End, Puerto Rico, Germany, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and soon, Manila, Philippines.

In a teaser video announcing the Manila premiere, which will play at The Theatre at Solaire starting Sept. 2023, Miranda said: “We have had so many incredible Filipino company members part of the Hamilton pamilya all over the planet, and now we get to bring the show to your beautiful country very soon! I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Bob Sewell, co-presenter of Hamilton in Manila and Producer at GMG Productions, shared: “We are absolutely thrilled that Hamilton will be making its Asian Premiere in Manila. We can’t wait for Filipino audiences to see this incredible show. We are also so excited to be working with UnionBank who have shared in our enthusiasm from day one.”

Vishal Kadian, Cards & Loans Head at UnionBank, seconds this sentiment. “We could not be prouder to partner with GMG Productions for Hamilton Manila’s pre-sale,” he said.

“Along with being the Best Digital Bank, we are committed to offering our customers truly amazing and exclusive experiences, and this is just one of many to come.”

Anticipating sold-out shows, UnionBank will open the Hamilton exclusive booking period to its credit cardholders before the public ticket selling period starts on Apr. 24, 2023.

There will also be an extended pre-sale offered to both UnionBank credit cardholders and those who sign up for the Hamilton Waitlist.
