Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI) has pledged to build a two-story, six-classroom school building for the Bagbag National High School in Rosario, Cavite by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) during the Brigada Eskwela kick-off with the Department of Education (DepEd) Cavite Province Division held on Aug. 12, 2023 at Alfonso, Cavite Town Plaza.
The SBFI supports DepEd’s 2023 theme for Brigada Eskwela of “Bayanihan Para sa Matatag na Paaralan,” which encourages businesses nationwide to help public schools become conducive learning environments for learners and school staff.
The SBFI school building for Bagbag National High School will benefit its close to 3,000 students.
The SBFI will be responsible for funding and monitoring the construction of the building.
The Municipal Government of Rosario, Cavite will be responsible for the building permit fees while the DepEd Cavite Province will put up the classroom chairs and tables as their counterpart.
As part of the SBFI’s holistic and multi-sectoral “Build a School, Build a Nation” program, the school will also benefit from regular classroom repairs and maintenance as well as free training programs for its teachers and school principal through the SBFI’s partnership with the Ateneo de Manila University and the De La Salle Philippines.
The SBFI has become the second biggest builder of classrooms among corporate foundations in the Philippines, having turned over a total of 703 classrooms as of August 2023.
With 68 classrooms presently under construction, the SBFI is on track to provide a total of 771 classrooms by 2023 year end, benefiting 135 schools across 79 cities and municipalities nationwide.
“As we travel around the country, we also still see a lot of students holding classes in dilapidated, makeshift, and/or unsafe classrooms. We will continue to build and donate classrooms to public schools nationwide,” said SBFI Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr.
