Sometimes, the most painful news requires time and sensitive consideration before it can be shared.

The Philippines Graphic, alongside the BusinessMirror, the Pilipino Mirror, and the entire ALC Media Group, deeply mourns the passing of Philippines Graphic Literary Editor Marra PL. Lanot.

She passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 82.

We delayed this announcement out of respect for her family. At the time, Marra’s husband, Pete Lacaba, had not yet been informed of her passing. The family needed time to prepare him, and we wanted to ensure he did not learn of this devastating news through social media.

Ms. Marra was cherished by all of us. She was the driving force behind the Philippines Graphic Reader, the literary companion magazine of the Philippines Graphic.

We invite all our readers and viewers to join us in praying for the eternal repose of her soul.
