The Sampaguita Festival 2024 Press Conference and Media Launch was held on April 22, 2024, in San Pedro City, where they announced the revival of the Sampaguita Festival from May 1 to May 5, 2024, with the theme “Sampaguita ang Puso ng Pagkakaisa.”
City Mayor Art Joseph Francis Mercado said that the festival is a big boost to the local tourism and economy of the City of San Pedro. He also mentioned that through the week-long celebration, they will be able to highlight the talents and skills of every San Pedrense.
The festival will feature different events such as Voice of Unity, Gandang Lola, Street Dance, and the Sampaguita Land Float Parade. It will also be jam-packed with different activities like the Color Fun Run, the Sampaguita Product Fair and Exhibit, the Barangay Trade Fair, the San Pedro City Weekend Market, and Ginoo at Binibining San Pedro 2024 Coronation Night, among many others.
When asked regarding the preparedness for the festival, especially during the downside activities, CDRRMO Head Vernet Nico Pavino said that they are conducting preparedness measures and have an Incident Management Team as well as Incident Command System Protocol to manage their resources properly. He also added that the city’s El Niño Task Force is ready to address whatever is needed, especially with regards to the rising heat index.
Despite having a limited supply of Sampaguita from their locality compared to its demand, they still consider San Pedro to be the center of the Sampaguita industry. Other areas with sampaguita plantations include Pampanga, Quezon, and other parts of Laguna.
