Angkasangga Party-list actively participated in the 29th National Convention of the Kababayan Riders Association for a New Cultural Harmony and Order Inc. (KARANCHO), held in Davao City last Jan. 25.
The event brought together grassroots leaders, community advocates, and policymakers from across the nation to promote cultural harmony, community welfare, road safety, and disaster preparedness.
The convention drew thousands of participants, including key KARANCHO officers: National President Leo Magno, who also serves as Secretary of the Mindanao Development Authority; Vice President Jimmy Batoon; and Secretary General Josue de Villa Go. Discussions centered on fostering collaboration between communities and government to advance KARANCHO’s mission of solidarity, public safety, and community resilience.
Representing Angkasangga, its first nominee and Angkas CEO George Royeca joined the event alongside Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero. Both leaders expressed strong support for KARANCHO’s grassroots initiatives and emphasized the critical role of motorcycles in addressing transportation challenges, especially in underserved areas.
Royeca highlighted Angkasangga’s vision of integrating motorcycles more comprehensively into the national transport plan to improve mobility and economic opportunities for informal workers.
As #107 on the 2025 election ballot, Angkasangga is committed to championing the rights of informal workers in Congress.
Under Royeca’s leadership, the party-list advocates for key reforms, including paid sick leave and government-mandated benefits for informal workers, and accident insurance for members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA). Angkasangga’s platform prioritizes uplifting tricycle drivers, vendors, and freelance workers, ensuring their inclusion in national policies and development programs.
The convention served as a platform for KARANCHO and Angkasangga to reaffirm their shared commitment to empowering grassroots sectors. In his statement, Royeca underscored the importance of representation, saying, “Angkasangga is here to ensure informal workers are given the dignity, protection, and opportunities they deserve.”
The 29th National Convention concluded with a powerful call for unity and collaboration, highlighting the vital contributions of grassroots organizations like KARANCHO and the transformative impact of Angkasangga’s advocacy for informal workers and motorcycle riders across the nation.
