The City Government of Sto. Tomas has allocated P80 million to cover for the start-up operations of the Ospital ng Lungsod ng Sto. Tomas for next year.
With construction set to be finished by 2024, the Ospital ng Lungsod ng Sto. Tomas is the realization of a life-long dream for a working hospital in the city.
The newly-constructed hospital will play a huge role in the delivery of health services for the growing population of the City of Sto. Tomas.
Providing free, essential medical services, Ospital ng Lungsod ng Sto. Tomas is a key election campaign promise of City of Sto. Tomas, Batangas Mayor Arth Jhun Aguilar Marasigan.
Funds for the construction of the hospital were sourced from national funds, from the AnaKalusugan Party-list, and from Sen. Loren Legarda. Local funds approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod also formed part of the funds for setting up the hospital.
The first public hospital of the city will provide free birthing facilities for pregnant Tomasinos.
Initially, the Ospital ng Lungsod ng Sto. Tomas will function as a primary-level hospital, with a capacity of 25 to 30 beds.
The building design of the hospital is open to expansion plans that can transform the Ospital ng Lungsod ng Sto. Tomas into a Level 2 or Level 3 hospital.
The City government of Sto. Tomas is currently negotiating with private hospitals to have a Memorandum of Agreement that will allow these private hospitals to cater to indigent patients. Also being explored is the setting-up of charity wards in private hospitals.
