Gentry Open 2026 sets sights on elevating Philippine tennis through bigger tournament, global competition

VIA GRAPHIC PLUS | BULACAN, Philippines — Gentry Open is raising the stakes for Philippine tennis as it returns in 2026 with a record prize fund, expanded international participation, and a long-term vision of strengthening the country’s tennis ecosystem.

Scheduled from August 20 to 30 at the CSA Tennis Stadium in Bulacan, this year’s tournament carries the theme “Building the Future of Philippine Tennis.”

Organizers said the event is designed not only to showcase elite competition but also to create more opportunities for Filipino athletes to compete, improve, and gain valuable international exposure. More than ₱3 million in prize money will be at stake, making Gentry Open one of the country’s richest independent tennis tournaments. Beyond the financial incentives, organizers see the event as an investment in the future of Philippine tennis by providing players with a competitive platform that meets international standards.

“Gentry Open has grown into more than just a tournament,” said Hayb “Pareng Hayb” Anzures, president of Gentry Open and founder of Gentry Timepieces. “We want to create opportunities for Filipino players to challenge themselves against quality competition while helping develop the sport at every level.”

The 2026 edition will feature men’s and women’s open singles events, doubles competitions, and junior divisions, ensuring participation from both established athletes and promising young talents. Registration is underway through the UTR Sports platform, with organizers reporting strong interest from players across multiple divisions.

Tournament Director Bobby Mangunay said returning to the CSA Tennis Stadium was a strategic decision. The venue offers ample court capacity to accommodate the tournament’s growing number of participants while providing dependable playing conditions during the rainy season. It also proved to be a popular host during the previous edition, drawing enthusiastic crowds, particularly during the championship matches.

International participation is expected to be one of this year’s defining features. Players from countries including India and the United States are expected to compete, giving Filipino athletes the rare opportunity to face high-caliber international opponents on home soil without the expense of traveling abroad.

Organizers are also expanding the tournament’s impact beyond match play by exploring international coaching clinics and youth development programs. These initiatives aim to provide aspiring players with greater access to quality instruction, mentorship, and pathways for long-term growth in the sport.

Staged as a non-profit event, Gentry Open 2026 continues to draw support from private-sector partners that share its vision of advancing Philippine tennis. The Palawan Group of Companies and Sky Warrior Philippines were introduced as key partners during the tournament’s media launch. As the countdown to August begins, organizers hope Gentry Open 2026 will leave a lasting legacy—not only by delivering world-class competition, but by helping cultivate the next generation of Filipino tennis champions and further elevating the sport’s profile across the country.
