The province of Bulacan plays a big role in Philippine History. It has hosted most historic events in the country that contributes to the rich tradition and culture of Filipinos, making it the Culture Capital of the Philippines.

Baliwag, the province’s first-class municipality, has contributed to the booming economy of Bulacan with its current population of over 157,000 residents.

Davao City’s 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte sees this as an opportunity to convert the municipality into a city, giving more opportunity for Baliwag’s development.

The presidential son authored House Bill No 7362 before the 18th Congress entitled “An Act Converting The Municipality Of Baliwag Into A Component City To Be Known As Baliwag City”.

“This initiative aims to increase the quality of life of our citizens and produce bigger economic prosperity,” says Duterte upon proposing the bill.

Duterte added: “The conversion will venture on the full economic potential of Baliwag, as it shall pave the way for more development and added services to the growing population. Moreover, it will provide the means to properly address the issues and concerns of its constituents.”

Unlike in a municipality where there is only a single administrative division holding corporate status granted by the national law, Baliwag, once converted to a city, will have a governing political body led by the City Mayor, and other offices such as the Vice Mayor, Sangguniang Panlungsod, City Administrator, City Treasurer’s Office, Planning and Development, Health Department, Social Welfare Department, and Environmental Services Department to name few,” Duterte said.
