Propelme Inks Memorandum of Agreement with OnePuhunan to provide loans for Seafarers

To address the financial challenges of seafarers, Four Blade Philippines, Inc., owner of Propelme app, inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Credit Access Philippines Financing Co., Inc. (OnePuhunan) at the 42nd floor One San Miguel Building, Pasig City on Oct. 10, 2023.

Present in the MOA signing event were Propelme Chief Strategy Officer Peter Baek and Head of Technical & Business Development Capt. Marlon Mesina together with OnePuhunan President Daniele Rovere, Business Strategy Head Marco Boa, and Production Development Manager Angelo Naidas.

Seafarers commonly spend 6 to 9 months at sea and stay the rest of the year on land.

While waiting for their next assignment, they face financial challenges such as depletion of funds or savings.

This venture aims to bridge this gap by extending credit financing to seafarers across the nation using Propelme mobile app.

Loan applications of up to twice the seafarer’s wage can be processed seamlessly online with minimal requirements.

Propelme is originally designed to cater to the needs of seafarers such as applying for a job conveniently, having access to perks and benefits, connecting with fellow crew members, tracking vessels and sea experience and organizing records and certificates.

With the addition of loan services, seafarers can now conveniently access credit financing solutions and help them finance education and training, family needs, home improvements, and other essential needs.

Chief Strategy Officer Peter Baek of Propelme confidently said that “the convenience and accessibility of the Propelme app combined with OnePuhunan’s trusted financial services will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of seafarers.”

He further remarked that “Seafarers can now secure the financial support they need to achieve their dreams, whether on land or at sea.”

President Daniel Rovere of OnePuhunan explained that their company, which specializes in providing financial services in the Philippines, will be expecting a steep learning curve during the pilot launch. “Our goal is, few years down the road, to be able to cater to vast majority of the Filipino maritime community,” Rovere added.

OnePuhunan and Propelme are committed to further enhance the financial well-being of seafarers, enabling them to navigate the seas of life with confidence and assurance.

This partnership signifies a bright future for Filipino seafarers, empowering them to realize their aspirations and financial goals.

The official pilot launch of Propelme’s loan services will be in November, extending to a limited number of applicants for its first run.
