EREHWON CELEBRATES THE 127TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF ANDRES BONIFACIO WITH A FREE THEATER PLAY

This is to honor the man who has been hailed as the hero of the masses (“Ang Dakilang Anak Pawis), who experienced a treacherous death. It is written as a musical but performed as oratorio.

Jerry Dadap is the first Filipino composer who presided over a concert of his own music at America’s Carnegie Recital Hall. Pablo Tariman has likened Jerry Dadap’s Andres Bonifacio musical as “raising patriotic fervor to great emotional heights.…this could be Jerry Dadap’s answer to Schonberg’s (Les Miserables).  Because this is the kind of musical that could bring out the sublime in everyone…”

The script is by Dionisio Salazar.  The show will feature the melodious voices of the Andres Bonifacio choir.

The show is FREE, in keeping with Erehwon Center’s mission of being a people’s art center, expanding access to art and cultural events to a mass-based crowd.   The Center has been opening its doors to a series of free shows which the public of all ages have been enjoying.  The shows have attracted students, the residents of the poor area of Villa Beatriz where Erehwon is located, senior citizens, and other people from various walks in life.
