Aliw Broadcasting Corporation has announced a partnership with Radio Philippines Network (RPN). The formal agreement was signed on Monday, August 12, 2024 at a ceremony held in Pasig City. This collaboration will bring beloved classic television shows back to Filipinos, captivating a new generation of viewers through Aliw’s free-to-air digital television and cable channel, Aliw Channel 23.
In attendance at the signing were key executive officers from Aliw Broadcasting Corporation, including Executive Vice President and General Manager Atty. McNeil Rante, and Vice President for Business Development Dennis Antenor Jr. Representing RPN were Treasurer Leon Dy, Commercial and Operations Manager Robertson Ong, and Board Director Undersecretary Robert Rivera.
The content partnership is set to revive the rich legacy of classic RPN-9 programming, beginning with the iconic sitcoms John en Marsha and Buddy en Sol. These shows, which are significant relics of Filipino television history, will once again be enjoyed by audiences through Aliw Channel 23.
John en Marsha originally aired from 1973 to 1990. The series starred renowned actors Dolphy, Nida Blanca, Rolly Quizon, Dely Atay-Atayan, and Maricel Soriano, and revolved around the comedic yet heartfelt interactions of the Puruntong family. The show not only entertained millions but also imparted valuable life lessons about family, friendship, and resilience in the face of adversity.
Buddy en Sol, which originally aired from 1990 to 1995, featured stars Eric Quizon as Buddy and Redford White as Sol, whose friendship led them into various misadventures.
The announcement comes as Aliw Broadcasting Corporation continues to expand its reach to more Filipinos across the nation. The company remains committed to delivering quality entertainment and informative content to Filipino audiences.
