“LIVE Forward: Driving Prosperity for All”
Mandaluyong City, Philippines – When 50 business leaders formed the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) in the 1970s, it was primarily to address the most pressing problems the country was facing. Through the years, PBSP has grown to more than 250 members and partners who collectively work toward a sustainable and inclusive future for the Filipino.
As this corporate-led, social development foundation celebrates its 54th year, the PBSP is set to bring stories of hard work and partnerships accomplished in the past fiscal year. PBSP will hold its 54th Annual Membership Meeting on Jan. 28, Tuesday at the Dusit Thani Manila in Makati City with the theme, “LIVE Forward: Driving Prosperity for All”.
This year’s theme was chosen in consideration of the national effort to become an upper-middle-income country by 2025.
PBSP said it stands firm in its belief that development should benefit all Filipinos, particularly underserved and marginalized communities.
“The gathering is a time for members, donors, and partners to discuss the impact and achievements of the organization over the past year. This year’s theme will also look at how we can redouble our commitment to working together in building a brighter, more equitable future for all,” the PBSP stated.
PBSP Chair Manuel V Pangilinan will officially open the event followed by a keynote address. This year’s keynote speaker is Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, a prominent peace advocate and 2023 Ramon Magsaysay awardee best known for her work as the first woman mediator to sign a major peace agreement with a non-state armed group.
Coronel-Ferrer will share her views on the private sector’s role in building self-reliant and resilient communities during the peace transition in the Bangsamoro region. There will also be a Q&A session which will be hosted by PBSP Executive Director Elvin Ivan Uy.
