Winford Resort & Casino Manila Partners with DENR for Tree-Planting Initiative at La Mesa Nature Reserve

Winford Resort & Casino Manila (WRCM) teamed up with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for a tree-planting activity at the La Mesa Nature Reserve.

The participants from WMRC, guided by experienced DENR forest workers, planted 500 narra seedlings during this initiative as part of their commitment to fostering a greener Philippines.

The event was conducted under WRCM’s Green Drive corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which focuses on promoting environmental sustainability through active employee involvement.

The WMRC team was welcomed by DENR representatives, Jerry Lanzarote and Frenz Balagas, during the activity.

“In 2019, we initiated our first tree-planting activity at Angat Watershed in Bulacan, followed by another effort in 2022 at the La Mesa Nature Reserve. This year, we proudly return to La Mesa for our third tree planting initiative,” said Mr. Jeff Evora, President & COO of WMRC. “These activities are designed to create awareness about climate change and demonstrate the critical role tree planting plays in mitigating its impacts.”

“Today, we revisit our environmental cause by appreciating our country’s biodiversity up close. All these trees provide fresh air and clean water not just for us to breathe and drink, but for our grandchildren and future generations to benefit from as well.”

The initiative is a key part of the DENR’s environmental program, led by Atty. Michael Drake Matias, OIC Regional Executive Director of DENR-NCR.

The tree-planting activity seeks to contribute to the rehabilitation of forests, aligning with DENR’s long-term efforts to restore and protect natural ecosystems.
