Listed natural resources development company Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC) has been honored by the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Awards as one of the “Inspiring Workplaces in Asia.”

The ACES Awards is one of the most sought-after accolades in the region. Since 2014, it has received 3,019 nominees and recognized 577 winners across 22 countries. For this year, NAC bested over 300 nominees in the region together with the other 33 awardees.

“Through its comprehensive policy, the company promotes an environment rooted in respect, integrity, and fairness. This commitment ensures that hiring and promotions are merit-based, welcoming a wide range of perspectives that enrich the workplace. Notably, NAC actively encourages female candidates to pursue technical roles, breaking down traditional gender barriers in the mining industry,” ACES said.

“The safety and health of its workforce are also top priorities at NAC. The company has implemented a robust occupational health and safety management system, adhering to the highest safety standards while regularly reviewing and auditing its practices. This commitment to safety has resulted in an impressive record of safe manhours, highlighting NAC’s dedication to maintaining a secure work environment for all employees, contractors, and communities involved,” it added.

Jose Bayani Baylon, NAC Senior Vice President for Sustainability, Risk, Corporate Affairs, and Communications, highlighted in his speech the critical role of the mining industry in the transition to a green economy.

“The reality is this: there will be no sustainable economy or green future without the green metals that companies like Nickel Asia take out from the Earth which makes it even more imperative that we succeed in our journey. This is why the recognition by ACES is inspiring us to take even greater strides towards the green future,” he said.

The “Inspiring Workplaces in Asia” Award aims to celebrate companies’ commitment to creating a progressive and inclusive work environment that prioritizes employee well-being and community engagement.

It also aims to recognize outstanding achievements in promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, highlighting initiatives that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cut energy consumption, advance energy efficiency, and improve air quality, all beyond standard regulatory compliance.

According to the ACES Council, “Nickel Asia Corporation’s holistic approach to employee well-being and professional development creates a thriving workplace that every company should aspire to build.”

It added: “This award serves as a testament to the collective efforts of everyone at Nickel Asia Corporation, inspiring the company to persist in its journey towards sustainability and social responsibility. NAC remains steadfast in its commitment to shaping a future where employees thrive, communities benefit, and the environment is preserved for generations to come.”
