Metro Retail Accelerates Expansion with Metro Value Mart Stores

Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) continues to reinforce its presence in the Philippine retail sector through the continuous growth of its diversified store formats. At the forefront of this expansion is Metro Value Mart, a neighborhood grocery concept offering convenience and affordability to Filipino communities.

Currently, five Metro Value Mart stores operate under the new branding in key locations: Lancaster (General Trias, Cavite), Gun-ob (Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu), Poblacion (Talisay City, Cebu), Tangke (Talisay City, Cebu), and Marigondon (Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu). In addition to these stores, MRSGI is transitioning several others into the Metro Value Mart format as part of its broader strategy to modernize its offerings and reach more customers nationwide.

Meeting Everyday Needs Closer to Home

Metro Value Mart offers a carefully curated selection of fresh produce, household essentials, and quality products — all at competitive prices. The format fills the gap between traditional convenience stores and larger supermarkets, ensuring that communities have easy access to essential goods without compromising affordability or quality.

“Metro Value Mart is central to our vision of making shopping more convenient and accessible for Filipino families,” said Manuel Alberto, President and Chief Operating Officer of MRSGI. “By locating our stores in the heart of communities, we bring everyday essentials closer to home while maintaining the value and quality that customers expect from the Metro brand.”

Beyond its role as a retail provider, Metro Value Mart contributes to the local economy by generating employment opportunities, supporting small and medium-sized suppliers, and boosting community development. Each new store opening represents an investment in the surrounding area, creating jobs and encouraging local partnerships.

“Through our store expansions, we aim to support our customers and the communities we serve,” added Alberto. “Each Metro Value Mart represents an opportunity to build closer ties with the neighborhoods we are part of, while also contributing to their economic vitality.”

Strengthening MRSGI’s Retail Portfolio

The Metro Value Mart format is part of MRSGI’s wider strategy to diversify its retail offerings, which include supermarkets, general merchandise, and home improvement stores. By catering to various customer needs through a range of tailored formats, MRSGI continues to solidify its reputation as a trusted name in the Philippine retail industry.

With its growing network of Metro Value Mart stores and plans for further expansion, MRSGI remains committed to delivering quality, convenience, and affordability to Filipino households. The company’s focus on operational excellence and innovation ensures that it stays responsive to the changing needs of its customers while contributing to the overall growth of the Philippine retail landscape.

To date, Metro Retail operates a total of 70 branches across Luzon and the Visayas under the store formats Metro Supermarket, Metro Department Store, Super Metro Hypermarket, Metro Value Mart, and Metro Home Improvement and Lifestyle. In line with its commitment to sustainable growth, MRSGI continues to aggressively expand its retail network.
