Search Mindscape’s Community Art Grounds brought a truly accessible art experience to Forbestown

Curated by Search Mindscape Founder and art consultant, Ayni Nuyda, the first ever Community Art Grounds redefines what it means to make “art more accessible.”

Held from March 20 to 22, 2026 at the Burgos Park in Forbestown, Taguig, Community Art Grounds was hatched when art consultant and Search Mindscape’s founder, Ayni Nuyda, began exploring the idea of bringing a truly interactive and accessible art experience to the community.

“It started out small with just one initiative,” she remembers. “As the planning progressed, we began engaging more artists and creative collectives.”

As it has always been with most of the organization’s projects, the Community Art Grounds was rooted on one clear objective: to foster dialogue between artists, viewers, and the community. The key emphasis, says Ayni, lies in making the art experience truly accessible while inviting everyone to collaborate and immerse in the creative process.

Throughout the three-day weekend event, Burgos Park served as a living and evolving platform for live demonstrations, collaborative workshops, and one-on-one encounters with artists and their collectives. Ayni describes, “Community Art Grounds is process-oriented. It was intended to present unique diverse art communities and engage a broad urban audience.’

Live performances unfolded through open jam sessions between musicians and artists. Sets by Magna Fanta Kompyuter were accompanied by Jose Solon Perfecto’s live pottery demonstrations, with special participation from Bobby Wuds Balingit, Ryan Rebote, and Fatima Starr. Artists from across the art community also joined in on the event’s culminating day.

Key highlights of the Community Art Grounds included:

  1. Open studios for the Alitaptap Artists Community. Around 25 artists were showcased at the art grounds with their various works on exhibition. Some were even creating new works on site. Ayni explains, “We wanted to situate the Alitaptap Artists Community within the city in a way that goes beyond exhibition or a marketplace. What’s presented here is a glimpse of a lived environment where what’s shared is not just the work, but the conditions of making and the exchanges that shape a collective artistic life.”
  1. Olivia d’Aboville’s recycled installation of FloatingDandelions. Made using recycled plastic bottles, these luminous florals were strung between the palm trees in Burgos Park, resulting in a constellation of dandelions. Ayni expounds,  “Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival, led by Miro Grgic and Olivia d’Aboville, presented this installation that reimagines Olivia’s Dandelions—typically grounded, now suspended as if caught mid-flight. It reflects how a body of work can evolve in meaning through site and collaboration.”
  1. Simon Te and Mic Rahman’s Participatory Woodblock Project, “Public Record”. Ayni envisioned a community art experience that was easy, engaging, and appealing–even for those who might not have the dexterity to use a paintbrush. During the weekend event, visitors were invited to learn about wood block printing. They were also encouraged to leave their mark on the community tapestry.
  1. Clay Workshops with Jose Solon Perfecto. Based in La Union, studio potter and ceramic artist Jose Solon Perfecto shared his love for terroir ceramics, surftown celadon, and Filipino table culture with visitors of Community Art Grounds. He also held hands-on clay workshops, inviting audiences to shape their very own functional or decorative art pieces.
  1. Pet portraiture, and Art Toys PH cat sculptures. “Forbestown is home to many pet owners and animal lovers,” Ayni observes. A neighborhood made lively by pets inspired her to include art activities that also involve our furry friends.

“Events like Community Art Grounds don’t just bring art closer. They dissolve the distance between artwork and audience, turning everyday spaces into sites of encounter and exchange,” the curator of Community Art Grounds ponders. She emphasizes how events that engage the community turn art into a lived and felt experience, shaped and experienced by many. “What unfolded was not just a program, but a shared moment that holds value as a memory—families, friends, and furbabies creating together.”

Community Art Grounds is presented by Search Mindscape and Forbestown. Community  partners include Perfecto Deli, Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival, Alitaptap Artists Community, and Art Toys PH, with support from Vito’s BBQ, Burnt Bean, Lazy Days Coffee Co., Monkey Eagle Brewery, and Art Caravan.
