Suki Healthwatch expands access to free blood pressure & sugar screening in Mercury Drug Branches

VIA GRAPHIC PLUS — Hypertension affects one in three adults in the Philippines, or about 16.8 million people, yet many cases remain undetected due to limited screening and low awareness of warning signs.

To help address this gap, Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines, in partnership with Mercury Drug Corporation and the Philippine Society of Hypertension (PSH), launched Suki Healthwatch, a community-based initiative expanding access to free blood pressure and blood sugar screening for Filipinos.

The program will run from May to July 2026 across participating Mercury Drug branches, starting with initial screening on May 16–17 and May 30–31.

“Many Filipinos remain unaware that they are living with hypertension until complications arise,” said Dr. Bin Wang, General Manager, Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines. “We are committed to transforming lives for generations by improving access to early detection and care. Through Suki Healthwatch, Boehringer Ingelheim, together with our trusted healthcare partners, we aim to empower more Filipinos to know any health risks, act early, and control of their cardiovascular health.”

The initiative aligns with Hypertension Awareness Month and the global May Measure Month (MMM26) campaign, reinforcing a shared commitment to improving awareness, enabling early detection, and strengthening access to preventive healthcare services within communities.

Strengthening early detection at the community level

Through Suki Healthwatch, Filipinos can access free blood pressure screening, blood sugar testing, and on-site doctor consultations in participating Mercury Drug branches. During these consultations, doctors guide patients in understanding their results, provide basic health advice, and support follow-up care. The initiative helps patients understand their results, recognize risks, and take early action for better long-term health.
