Bell-Kenz Foundation: Transforming dreams into opportunities, creating future leaders

Via GRAPHIC PLUS — For Bell-Kenz Pharma Foundation Inc., the success of its scholarship program is measured not only by the students it has helped graduate, but by the lives they continue to transform.

Former BK scholars Shane Jasmin “Shaun” Samson and Thea Macalalad exemplify how investing in education creates lasting impact that extends beyond the classroom.

Raised by a family supported by a small sari-sari store, Shaun pursued a degree in Political Science at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with the help of a Bell-Kenz Foundation scholarship. The financial assistance eased his educational expenses, but more importantly, gave him confidence to pursue his chosen path.

Graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2024, Shaun has since joined Bell-Kenz Foundation as its CSR Admin Assistant, where he now helps manage the same scholarship program that once supported him

I used to wait for the message that said I was supported. Now, I’m the one who helps send it,” Shaun shared.

For Thea Macalalad, the scholarship became a lifeline during one of the most difficult periods of her life. As the eldest child of separated parents, she balanced her studies with financial responsibilities while finding ways to support her family. Bell-Kenz Foundation’s assistance enabled her to finish college, complete her internship, and pass her licensure examination.

She eventually joined Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. as an employee. Even after graduation, the company’s support continued when she faced a medical condition, helping her access specialized healthcare.

“Bell-Kenz didn’t only help me finish my education or build my career—they helped me rebuild my life,” Thea said.

Reflecting on the Foundation’s mission, Dr. James Cayetano, President of Bell-Kenz Foundation, emphasized that the organization’s commitment extends far beyond providing financial assistance.

” Bell-Kenz Foundation envisions creating a cycle of opportunity—where today’s scholars grow into tomorrow’s professionals, mentors, and leaders who, in turn, empower others to dream bigger and achieve more. Shaun and Thea exemplify this vision. Their journeys remind us that a scholarship is more than financial assistance; it is an investment in human potential, a catalyst for transformation, and a commitment to ensuring that no deserving student is forced to give up their dreams because of financial hardship,” Dr. Cayetano said.
