PH gov’t boasts of world-class vaccine storage, long time distribution systems via PharmaServ Express that keep vaccines safe and effective

VIA GRAPHIC PLUS — The Philippine government’s vaccine distribution program boasts of a world-class logistics system, thanks to PharmaServ Express’ internationally compliant cold chain and delivery systems that guarantee the safety and potency of vaccines from storage to delivery, even to the country’s far-flung communities.

PharmaServ Express has been doing vaccine distribution and has brought advanced and world-class technologies to the country even before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our technology meets the highest international standards for vaccine storage and transport,” said PharmaServ Express President Andrian Perez.

“As a dedicated life science logistics provider, we’ve invested in superior, globally compliant cold chain systems, specialized bio-thermal packaging, and real-time visibility solutions—significantly enhancing the country’s capability to preserve and account for every vaccine from storage through distribution,” he added.

The Department of Health (DOH) was using styrofoam boxes and ice packs before PharmaServ Express came on board in 2017 and introduced internationally compliant and world-class standard bio-thermal cases and cold chain packaging solutions.

Among its key innovations is the use of ISTA (International Safe Transit Association)-validated bio-thermal packaging systems capable of maintaining the required temperature for up to 168 hours, ensuring vaccines remain safe and effective even during long-distance transport to geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

Through these innovations, every vaccine distributed by the DOH is transported and distributed under strict temperature-controlled conditions ranging from 2-8 degree Centigrade down to -80 Centigrade. This helps preserve its efficacy and potency until it reaches health facilities and vaccination sites nationwide.

The system also has a real-time visibility and end-to-end traceability, giving the DOH live temperature and location monitoring for every shipment—so no vaccine moves unaccounted for.

“By pairing precision cold chain with real-time visibility, PharmaServ Express gives the DOH complete traceability—the ability to track, verify, and prove vaccine integrity at every stage of the journey,” Perez said.

PharmaServ Express is also certified in Good Distribution Practices of the World Health Organization (GDP-WHO), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) for Pharmaceuticals, and ISO 14001 for environmental management, underscoring its adherence to globally recognized standards for pharmaceutical logistics and environmental safety.

PharmaServ Express serves as the preferred service provider of the DOH for its National Immunization Program (NIP) in handling and transporting vaccines to different Regional Health Offices for the vaccination of young children and their mothers.

The company further stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic, handling, storing, and transporting vaccines delivered to various sites throughout the country.
