VIA GRAPHIC PLUS | MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) successfully concluded its hosting of the 32nd ASEAN Postal Business Meeting (APBM) and the 2026 ASEANPOST++ Meeting, bringing together postal leaders and representatives from ASEAN member states and partner countries to discuss practical strategies for strengthening postal services and responding to the changing demands of the industry.
PHLPost Postmaster General Maximo C. Sta. Maria III opened the meeting by thanking participating postal operators and Mr. Charles Brewer, CEO of Malaysia Post and Chairman of this year’s APBM and ASEANPOST++, and noting the region’s shared goal of connecting people.
“By working together and exploring new possibilities, we can help ensure that our postal networks continue to remain relevant, responsive, and ready for the future,” Sta. Maria said.

Key areas affecting the future of postal services, including cross-border e-commerce, logistics, customs coordination, and Universal Service Obligations, were discussed during the 3-day meetings from October 5-7 held at a hotel in Pasay City.
Beyond hosting the meetings, the Philippines emerged with a new responsibility after being elected Chair of the 2027–2028 ASEAN postal cycle, giving PHLPost a stronger role in shaping the region’s postal agenda and driving initiatives that can benefit postal operators and customers alike.
Postmaster General Sta. Maria said the Philippines is ready to build on the momentum generated by the 2026 meetings and translate regional discussions into concrete programs, stronger partnerships and more responsive postal services.
“This is more than a recognition for the Philippines. It is a responsibility to lead, listen and turn our shared ideas into action,” Sta. Maria said.
The successful hosting and assumption of the chairmanship underscore PHLPost’s growing role in regional postal development and cooperation, while reinforcing the Philippines’ commitment to a more connected, efficient, and customer-focused postal network.
