VIA GRAPHIC PLUS | TAGUIG CITY — Since 1965, the Armed Forces & Police Mutual Benefit Association (AFPMBAI) has been the stalwart partner of the Military and Uniformed Personnel (MUP) in the country. Its manifold corporate social responsibility initiatives provide meaningful social services to the MUP and their dependents.

As it culminates the celebration of its 60th anniversary, the Association is launching a fun run event dubbed: “AKBAY DAGAT: Run for the Reefs”.

Scheduled for May 24, 2026 (Sunday) at Fort Bonifacio Army Headquarters in Taguig City, proceeds of the AKBAY DAGAT: Run for the Reefs aims contribute to the nation’s efforts for reef conservation, capability-building, and safeguarding Philippine seas for future generations.

The event isn’t just a fun run – it’s a nationwide call to action. The fun aims to unite thousands – families, professionals, students, fitness enthusiasts, and advocates — for a united purpose: to save and conserve the Philippine reefs, especially the West Philippine Sea, through initiatives directed towards marine protection, reef restoration and education programs in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard and its allied agencies.

Armed Forces reservists—including celebrities Dingdong Dantes, Enzo Pineda, Coleen Perez, Khimo Gumatay and JC De Vera are set to participate in the fun run.

The run features four distance categories: 3K, 5K, 10K, and 16K, with the first gun starting at 5:00AM.   Registration fees start at only PHP850, with special discounts available for groups of four or more.

“We aim to champion wellness and sustainability through this event,” Rear Admiral Dorvin Jose L Legaspi PN (ret), AFPMBAI President and CEO said. “We look forward to running alongside our fellow Filipinos to safeguard our nation’s natural resources, particularly our coral reefs.”

AFPMBAI is a trusted partner of the nation’s MUP. The organization has been securing and providing responsive financial services to more than 400,000 men and women from the MUP—and their families—for six decades.
