Mayor Lani Cayetano graces Bambang’s first St. John’s pickleball tournament

via GRAPHIC PLUS — Barangay Bambang continues to champion active living and community engagement with the successful launch of the first-ever St. John’s Bambang Pickleball Tournament 2026 for residents of Acacia Estates. 

The inaugural tournament brought together members of the community for a fun-filled day of sports, camaraderie, and meaningful connection. Featuring Novice and Low Intermediate categories, the event highlighted not only the growing popularity of pickleball but also the enthusiasm and unity of Bambang residents.

Spearheading the initiative was Barangay Captain Ryan Esteban, together with his wife Amy Esteban, whose shared vision continues to promote wellness-driven and inclusive programs within the barangay. Their leadership underscores a strong commitment to building a healthier and more connected community. 

Highlighting the event was the presence of Mayor Lani Cayetano, who delivered an inspiring message of support for grassroots sports development. Her attendance reaffirmed the city government’s dedication to empowering local communities through initiatives that encourage active lifestyles and social cohesion.

Also present were Barangay Bambang’s dedicated council members—Kagawad Kathy Sta. Ana, Kagawad Robin Bernardino, Kagawad Jhunboy Manalo, and Kagawad Jezzer Ignacio—who continue to play an active role in supporting programs that benefit residents. 

The success of the tournament was made possible through the collective efforts of organizers and partners, including Ms. Paz Balayan (President, Mahogany 1 & 2 Homeowners Association), Coach Martin Diciano,  Coach Andrew Pascua, Mr. JM Lezama, Mahogany P1 PMO, as well as the umpires and volunteers whose dedication ensured a smooth and well-executed event.

More than just a competition, the tournament served as a platform to strengthen relationships within the community, foster sportsmanship, and celebrate shared experiences. Winners in each category received cash prizes and medals, recognizing their skill, dedication, and outstanding performance on the court. 

As Barangay Bambang continues to roll out impactful community programs, the successful staging of this inaugural pickleball tournament signals the beginning of more engaging activities that bring residents together and promote a vibrant, active lifestyle. Indeed, in Bambang, community spirit remains at the heart of every initiative.
