This year, from June 18 until September 19, the Exhibit Gallery of Instituto Cervantes Manila at Intramuros will host a three-month photographic exhibition by renowned Spanish artist García de Marina. Titled “Melodías del Pensamiento”, the exhibition will bring together a curated selection of works that reinterpret everyday objects as poetic visual metaphors.
García de Marina is a Spanish conceptual photographer whose work is defined by its simplicity, precision, and strong poetic undertone. He is known for creating minimalist compositions using everyday objects or natural elements, which he arranges in unexpected ways to evoke reflection and emotion. His practice focuses on the idea that meaning is not always found in complexity, but often in the subtle relationships between ordinary things when seen through a different lens.
On the opening day, 18 June, the public is invited to attend a creative workshop from 1pm to 4pm, conducted by García de Marina himself. The workshop will allow participants to experience his approach firsthand, exploring how simplicity, composition, and imagination can be used to construct visual narratives that speak quietly but powerfully. Attendance is free, but it requires registration through the following link: https://forms.office.com/e/FUGnY4h9s2

The workshop will be followed by a talk with the artist himself, offering a rare opportunity to engage directly with García de Marina and his creative world. The talk will dive into his insights and artistic process, from the conceptual development of an idea to the careful staging of objects that form each photograph.

This exhibit is a project of the Embassy of Spain, Instituto Cervantes de Manila, and AECID, with the collaboration of Intramuros Administration. The Intramuros Branch of Instituto Cervantes de Manila is located at 385 Calle Real, Plaza San Luis Complex, Intramuros.
