All park-goers, whether young or young-at-heart, stopped in their tracks to watch the beautiful display of lights and sounds that painted the Enchanted Kingdom night sky.

The 6th Sky Wizardry Fireworks Competition was hosted by Angel Aquino and Joshua Colet, both of whom describe themselves as batang EK. To set the mood for the night’s competition, EK’s very own Victoria’s Way and Kingsmen, together with the EK Circle of Artists, serenaded the crowd with their own mash-up of the hits from the 90s. And in an instant, it’s as if the guests time-traveled back to the past.

The guests also enjoyed special performances by Cool Kidz Crew Junior, UP Streetdance Club, and a surprise performance by Dulce, who in their own way, showcased their talents in true 90s style.

This year’s Board of Judges consisted of seven strong-willed individuals, and three of which were ladies of the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas, namely Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2018 Jheza Mae Huelar, Binibining Pilipinas International 2018 Ma. Ahtisa Manalo, and Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray joined by the Department of Tourism Officer-in-Charge, Regional Director for Region IV-A Marites Castro, Embassy Manila Economic Section Head Lynne Gadkowski, City Mayor of Santa Rosa, Laguna Mayor Dan Fernandez, and last but not the least, the Chairman of the Board and Representative of the First District of Laguna Congresswoman Arlene B. Arcillas.

These judges considered the variety and intensity of colors, rhythm and momentum of firing, height explosions, and overall presentation in considering the grand champion for this year’s Sky Wizardry Fireworks Competition.

Sky Wizard Vince Joseph Lebrilla of St. Vincent Pyrotechnics Services and Trading from Cabuyao, Laguna was crowned the grand champion with his fireworks show that impressed both the judges and guests.

This representative from Laguna went home with a certificate of recognition, 30 Agila tickets, and a total of P120,000. Sky Wizards Edwin Joaquin of Gramce and Grace Fireworks from Plaridel, Bulacan, Florido T. Baraquil of Rambolet Pyro Corporation from Cebu City, Visayas, and Verwin L. Uy from VLU Fireworks from Cotabato City, Mindanao also gave a spectacular fireworks show. It was exciting to see fireworks display from different parts of the country.

Celebrating World Teachers’ Day the EK Way

“The best part of being a teacher is knowing that I’m influencing my students in their lives… and they have better lives today,” shares Teacher Violeta Fernandez, one of the 7 winners of the ‘My Enchanting Teacher’ Facebook photo contest. “I’m so thankful to God that I’m a teacher,” she adds.

It’s that time of the year again, where we welcome our second parents into the magical land of Enchanted Kingdom. Teacher Violeta, who has been teaching for 25 years, deserves nothing less than a superb celebration… and so do all the other 10,000+ teachers who were in attendance last October 7, 2018, Sunday for the Magical World Teachers’ Day celebration.

It was a jam-packed day enjoyed by most despite the sweltering heat that hovered over the guests. Welcome remarks were given by EK Chairman and President Mr. Mario O. Mamon. “This is an opportunity to give a treat to a very important segment in our society,” says Mr. Mamon as he expressed his appreciation for all the teachers who attended. EK Chief Operating Officer Dr. Cynthia R. Mamon took the stage and introduced the edutainment programs of Enchanted Kingdom to the teachers and shared how it can help in their quest to educate their students.

The teachers also received a special message from DepEd (Department of Education) Undersecretary for Legislative Liaison Office, External Partnerships and School Sports Hon. Usec. Tonisito M.C. Umali, Esq. who spoke honoring the teachers.

More than enjoying the rides and attractions, resource speakers were invited to give talks on different topics that may be very helpful to all the teachers, and even guests and students who participated. A talk on the 3 Life Lessons Every Teacher Needs to Teach was given by Author Ms. Ardy Roberto, who left the audience with notable words of wisdom, one of which is “Love is the greatest teacher. Love your work, love your students.”

MATH-inic Training and Curriculum Director Ms. Veronica Prudente taught different and faster ways to solve math problems in connection with engendering reason and developing strategic thinking. Department of Science and Technology Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara gave a brief talk on Research, Development, and Innovation: Future-proofing the Philippines for the Next Generation. Science Teacher/Education Technology Coordinator Ms. Winnie Diola started off her talk with some mind-tickling rebus puzzles which the audience cheerfully enjoyed. She proceeded to touch on the topic of technology integration with her topic, A Touch of Magic to Successful Learning Stories of Innovations in the Classroom. Last but not the least, Dr. Carl E. Balita of the Carl E. Balita Review Center gave a talk on Educating for the Future.

The teachers were also serenaded by EK’s homegrown talents, Victoria’s Way and Kingsmen along with the EK Circle of Artists. The 2018 Agilakas Dance Champion left the audience in awe with their out-of-this-world dance moves that made them want to get up to their feet as well!

To finish off this special day, teachers enjoyed the Sky Wizardry Fireworks Display that lit up the beautiful sky. It was the perfect way to end the magical day. Let the fireworks serve as a reminder of the spark our teachers ignited upon us to do and to be better students and people.

To cap off the night, Enchanted Kingdom had their own share of fireworks display. It was a night of magical experiences with fireworks that lit up the night sky, like fairy dust that showered upon the guests.

This marked the fairytale-like moment of the night as the bright lights were reflected in the guests’ eyes. Truly, the magic lives forever at Enchanted Kingdom!
