Home Poetry Coming home

Coming home

walking along a familiar road
while seeing a new and different world
your home calls you a stranger
homesick to what he knows and holds

while seeing a new and different world
the fragments of history and memories,
homesick to what he knows and holds
look for a shelter; a cabin, a rest house, or a manger

the fragments of history and memories
root in the mind and not on the land
they shelter in a cabin, a rest house, or maybe a manger
mourning for the days that passed and will never again pass

is it rooted in the mind or on the land –
the shape of youth and disdaining age
mourning for the passing days?
you shouldn’t have come back.

you see the shadows from the outline of the shape of youth and disdaining age
as you walk along a familiar road

you shouldn’t have come back
your home calls you a stranger

The Sailors’ Devil

People in debt will pay for their sins
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord, have mercy on her
For she does not go to the church anymore

They made the sign of the cross when
they found her in the water, drowning her own soul
Perhaps it’s because she stopped going to the church
Her mind was a playground and the demons liked to play

They found her in the water, drowning her own soul
as the deliberate strokes of the waves cuddle her thoughts
Her mind was a playground and the demons liked to play
The apple was bitten, the door was opened

Waves cuddle her thoughts with deliberate strokes
They hum a lullaby to calm her nerves
The apple was bitten so the door was opened
the shadows started crawling under the bed

The shadows are under the bed
The demons are inside the head
Humming a lullaby to calm her nerves,
the water drowned her soul.

Her mind is a playground for the demons to play
because she stopped going to the church anymore
They found her in the water, drowning her own soul
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

For she does not go to the church anymore
Lord, have mercy on her
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
People in debt will pay for their sins
