Meralco meter reading and business operations continue amid MECQ

Meralco assures its customers that business operations, including meter reading activities will continue despite the enforcement of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal and Bulacan. Business centers will also remain open to handle customer payments, concerns, inquiries and service application.

The company guarantees strict implementation of protocols of the government’s Inter Agency Task Force, to safeguard the heath and safety of its customers and employees. Meralco is also closely coordinating with the Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy with regard to business operations continuation amid MECQ.

In line with this, Meralco appeals to local government units (LGUs) and barangay officials to recognize meter readers as among the essential workers granted permission to work amid MECQ, and allow them access to read meters of residences. Rest assured this will be unobtrusive and the deployed meter readers will be in complete personal protective equipment, bearing in mind safety procedures. This will ensure that actual consumption for the month will be billed accordingly.

Meralco crews will likewise be on standby 24/7 to respond to emergencies and reports. The utility’s beefed-up 24/7 Call Center will continue to respond to customers who reach out via its social media pages (Facebook, Twitter), email (customercare@meralco.com.ph), SMS numbers (09175516211, 09209716211, 09175592824 and 09209292824) and hotline 16211.
