Quezon City councilor Candy Medina is making sure that multitude of families of Barangay Bagong Silangan, Barangay Batasan Hills, Barangay Commonwealth, Barangay Holy Spirit, and Barangay Payatas will experience the spirit of Christmas as each family will receive “Pamaskong Handog” gift bags from the local government.

Despite the threats of COVID-19 hounding everyone, thousands of Christmas gift baskets were distributed to five barangays of District 2. The second district, which covers the northern part of Quezon City, is considered as the most densely-populated area with total of nearly 2 million.

The three-term councilor since 2007 personally joined her team in handing out goodies to make sure that her constituents will have something to partake this Christmas.

Aside from being an annual tradition, their latest giving of Christmas season is meant to provide renewed hope as following the struggles that the country faced this year.

“I am so grateful that despite all these challenges, Quezon City residents remain resilient. It is in my sincerest prayer that we continue to share the spirit of Christmas with hopes for a better future in the new normal,” Medina said.

“I hope this could bring joy to all families and give them a little hope that in the midst of this pandemic, we could still celebrate Christmas.

Further, she also advised District 2 residents to refrain from going out so as to avoid contracting the dreaded virus.

Prior to this month, Medina’s camp has been at the frontlines extending help by way of relief operations. Shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began, they were giving food baskets, hygiene kits, extending free RFID stickers, and helping residents to cope up with the situation in mobility, especially during the early part of the year.
