What’s next for Biñan City, now that its ‘Big Three’ leaders are now into their third and final term in office?

In his speech at the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panglungsod at the Alonte Sports Arena last July 11, Biñan City Mayor Arman Dimaguila wasted no time in outlining the projects and programs of his administration for the next three years.

Dimaguila said his administration’s first focus will be on housing projects for the city’s low-income residents and government employees; improving the city’s flood-control infrastructure; completion of school buildings and expanding the Iskolar ng Biñan program; and building at least three “super health centers” that will serve the city’s outlying villages.

Aside from the on-going construction of the Biñan Esplanade complex in Barangay Dela Paz, Dimaguila also plans to construct additional facilities such as a combined sports and evacuation center in Barangay Poblacion, a Biñan Cultural Center, and a “one-stop shop” center that will house government agencies.

He also bared plans to improve the city’s basic services such as garbage collection, disaster risk reduction and management, and mobility and accessibility, as well as ensuring the welfare of senior citizens and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Papunta pa lamang tayo sa exciting na part [We are just on our way to the exciting part],” the mayor said, quoting a now-viral television drama line. “At kailangan ko na po ngayon ang tulong ng ating Sangguniang Panglungsod, ng ating mga opisyal. Sa mga taga-Biñan, hindi po namin kayo bibiguin–gagalingan pa natin, marami pa po tayong gagawin [I need the help and support of the City Council and our officials. To the people of Biñan, we will never let you down. We will continue to do more and do better].”—Catherine Go
