Share

Manila, Philippines — In a market where most footwear sticks to safe, conventional designs, PUMA’s Mostro shatters the mold with its bold, Y2K-leaning aesthetic. Launching in the Philippines on March 29 at Bonifacio High Street and Shangri-La Plaza, this reimagined icon upends bland standards by merging innovative comfort with a sleek, experimental appearance.

Pushing Boundaries Since the 2000s

PUMA Mostro was originally introduced in 1999, the line broke away from conventional sneaker design by incorporating the sprinting spikes of the ‘60s and the surfing shoes of the ‘80s. Designers envisioned a footwear icon that reimagined silhouettes and materials to create a statement piece that combined performance with avant-garde style.

Building on this design, the Mostro line launched in 2004 which stayed closer to the original vision of its designers with more refined details and futuristic design elements.

Its resurgence in popularity has been propelled by PUMA’s partnership with high fashion brand Ottolinger and celebrities like A$AP Rocky who have championed its unique blend of style and substance.

Well-known Filipino actor and style icon, Enchong Dee, was also seen wearing the Ur Mostro Communication recently on his social media post, showing that the Mostro’s unique and unconventional design has not gone out of style.

The latest edition of the boundary-breaking seeker is the Ur Mostro Communication Warm White/Light Straw, which captures the essence of the original while adding to its comfortability.

The design integrates PUMA’s cutting-edge footwear technology to elevate the overall wearing experience, featuring a streamlined slip-on build that provides a secure fit with the elastic bright orange velcro closure system. A flexible rubber outsole and spikes delivers exceptional traction and grip. Vents are woven into the overall design to ensure breathability, ideal for urban settings where functionality meets style.
